More About Lucas Till
Born at Fort Hood, Texas, Lucas Daniel Till is the son of Dana Lyn and Army Lieutenant Colonel John Mark Till. Though born in Texas, he spent the bulk of his youth in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia. Early on, his family noticed his talent for mimicking voices and creating characters. This prompted his mother to enroll him in acting classes at age 11, where he was quickly spotted by Atlanta talent agent Joy Pervis.
Lucas found work almost immediately, appearing in print ads as well as local and national commercials. His first break in feature films came when he was cast as Harry Vanderbilt inThe Adventures of Ociee Nash, working alongside Keith Carradine and Mare Winningham. He proved to be a natural on set and soon followed up that performance with a co-starring role in Lightning Bug with Laura Prepon.
After a brief first trip to Los Angeles at 13, Lucas returned to Atlanta and landed the role of Jack Cash—Johnny Cash’s older brother—in the Academy Award-winning biopicWalk the Line. The high-profile project, directed by James Mangold, paired him with Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon.
Despite his growing success, Lucas chose to stay in Atlanta for high school to get the standard public school experience. He balanced his studies with roles in Lifetime movies and independent films like Dance of the Dead. That specific project was later hand-picked by director Sam Raimi for distribution through Lionsgate and Ghost House Pictures.
Just three weeks before graduating high school with honors, Lucas landed the role of Travis Brody in Disney’s Hannah Montana: The Movie. He started filming immediately but flew back to Atlanta after his first week on set to walk with his graduating class of 2008.
In the years since, Lucas has moved into major television roles, including guest spots on House M.D. and Blue Mountain State, and eventually starring in the title role of MacGyver for CBS. His film resume has expanded to include blockbusters like Battle Los Angeles and the X-Men franchise—where he played Havok—alongside roles in Stoker, Paranoia, andSon of the South.
